Had another great family session today. This time it was with three brothers. Got another chance to use my antique wagon. It was made around 1925-1935. I picked it up at a roadside antique shop while I was going through Alabama. The lady at the shop said it belonged to Buckwheat from The Little Rascals , but I think she was full of it.

Has to be him , right ? One of the few times lugging my camera around for no reason paid off. Hope everyone enjoys the Super Bowl today. Too bad he’s not still alive, then maybe we wouldn’t have to look at Madonnas man arms during the half time show.

Alcatraz

So I noticed this new television show called Alcatraz. The premise of the show being that all the inmates vanished and are coming back to commit crimes, while being covered up by the government. The show totally sucks , but it reminded me of last years vacation to San Francisco. Here are some black and whites I took at Alcatraz. The place is falling apart pretty fast. Unless they restore it I doubt it will last another 25 years. Its actually a bird sanctuary too now.

Had a fun session today Kind of cool when parents bring clothes that are a little outside the norm. Also got to use my wagon prop for the first time.

birthday idea

Had a favorite client of mine come in with a great idea for her husbands birthday. I think I may have to invest in some letters and numbers now. Also, seeing lots of cool prop ideas in Pinterest. I basically am going to have to buy an antique store before its over with. Speaking of birthdays, mine is May 31 ( same as Clint Eastwood if he makes it ) and feel free to buy me gift cards to Murphys Photo or Waffle House. I won’t feel awkward at all if you give it to me early. Also when you make one of my photos your profile pic on Facebook , God saves a kitten from a shelter. Anyhow, here is the photo from the session (spells the same word backwards )

Guitars

A friend of mine specializes in refinishing guitars. Today I took a few sample shots of his work , which is pretty amazing. Its nice to shoot things that don’t move every now and then. If any of you happen to need a guitar refinished let me know and Ill hook you up. Or if you want photos of something that moves or doesn’t move , I can do that too. Not normally what I shoot but I thought they were so pretty I had to share.

New Website

Ive decided to redo the website. I decided to make things a lot simpler and to combine the blog with the website so that you wouldn’t have to go to two different sites. So over the next few weeks Ill be tweaking it and adding some older posts from the old blog. Thanks for your patience Also my furnace went out so its like 30 degrees in my studio right now. So while Im freezing and waiting for the furnace dude, Ill be updating and playing around with things.

Just wanted to thank all my clients of 2011 for a great year. I’m looking forward to 2012 and adding a few changes to what Ive been doing the last couple of years. Im taking a mini break for a few weeks and Ill be redoing my website and adding a few new features and packages to what I have been offering clients. Ive been collecting a lot of vintage props and adding some new background choices for this year. Im also going to try and blog a bit more even though Im really not a fan of blogging. (bleh) The new studio space has worked out very well. Im finally getting comfortable with it and understanding what all I can do with it. I do most of my work outdoors but look to do a signifigant amount of studio work in 2012.

Id also like to thank everyone who passed along my card or recommended me to a friend last year. I don’t do a lot of advertising , so most of what I do is from word of mouth or Facebook. Hopefully Ill get the chance to work with you all again 2012.

Studio Open !

Sorry I haven’t updated the bloggy blog in a while. Besides the fact that I hate to blog , Ive been super busy. We recently moved to a new house (golf clap) that had a layout that allowed me to have a complete in home studio. I tinkered with the idea of renting a studio but the new place more than fits my needs. So besides moving into a new home Ive been redoing the basement and making it the perfect space for what I want to do. In the old house I was shooting in a small area of my basement ( ghetto !) that limited me on what I could do. The new space is large enough that I can do everything I want studio wise and also has a nice area for consults and bored parents. So after a month of remodeling and a few Ikea trips Im ready to book some indoor sessions. Ill have a Christmas card package soon.
